Trimmin' Out the Doors!

We were lucky enough to have been able to buy a fairly nice home (especially for a couple in our mid-twenties who just got married). Our living room even has crown molding! Yeah, it's sagging in one spot, but I'm sure I can fix that.

One day I'll get around to it.

Eventually...

Anyway!

Laundry Room Upgrade!

I'm one of those people that fought Pinterest with all my heart and soul for the longest time... And eventually succumbed to its glory. Seriously, Pinterest is dangerous. It makes me say things like "I want to hang an antique chandelier in the laundry room." Where does that even come from?!

I really do though...

Anyway...

Hoosier Cabinet Makeover

Tadaaa!!

I'm so glad to be able to put this post up. This ol' beauty is where I keep all my fabric and other sewing notions (at least, the ones that don't go in the desk). And it's got a history to go with. This cabinet was my great grandmother's (possibly my great-great as well, but I know great for certain). My mom said she remembers her grandmother rolling out biscuits on this thing. How awesome is that?!

DIY Chalk Paint Desk

So in my last post, there was a bit of that desk that I got at Habitat for Humanity Restore back in the winter, all glammed up and ready to be a sewing desk! Now that I've had it for a while, I can honestly say this was an amazing purchase, and I'm so glad I pulled the trigger on this desk.

Let's take a look at what it looked like before the white out:

Hiatus has Ended!

So, I've been a bad blogger and haven't posted in a while. Woopsie.. I've taken lots of pictures though, so I have plenty of post material to get caught up. Pinky promise. =)

The only excuse I have is being a new homeowner and all the time-consumption that comes with. It's been fun, but a bit nuts. The house goes through phases of being clean and feeling done, and then it's like a DIY project vomits all over a room and then spills out into the hallway. *sigh* The struggle is very real.

Whitewashed Fireplace

When we first saw this house and saw this house had a brick fireplace, I was that special kind of excited where you get all giddy and obsessed. I immediately started Googling fireplace makeovers. At first I was super ambitious, thinking about stone veneer or stuff like that. Thankfully that's why I married my husband. He is my home improvement voice of reason. Once I was sufficiently aware of how much stone veneer would cost, I started looking at cheaper options (and hubs breathes a sigh of relief). It didn't take long for me to stumble across all the beautiful whitewashed brick fireplaces scattered around the web. I probably watched every YouTube video and blog post Google could find on the subject. It took about a month after moving in for me to get the time to do something about ours, but it's finally done!!

Breathing New Life into Old French Doors

For my debut post, I'd like to introduce you to our back door, and how I made it a non-eyesore.
